FAQs
Thinking about getting a mural but not sure where to start? Don’t worry — I’ve got you covered! Here are answers to the most common questions I get.
Got other questions? Please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
1
Can you help me come up with a design?
Absolutely! You don’t need to have the full idea figured out — I’ll work with you to sketch concepts and find a design that fits your space, style, and budget.
2
Do you offer a digital mockup before painting?
Yes, I create a digital mockup so you can see how the design will look on your wall before I ever pick up a brush. But I will require a picture of the full wall.
3
How long does it take to paint a mural?
Most murals take about a week or less, depending on size and detail. Larger or more complex pieces may take longer, but I’ll always give you a clear timeline before we start.
4
When is it best to paint a mural?
Indoor murals can be painted any time of year! For outdoor murals here in the South, spring (March–May) and fall (late September–November) are ideal — the humidity is lower, which keeps paint from peeling and helps me avoid melting into the wall.
5
Do you paint outside Wake County?
Yes! I love to travel for projects. Anything over about 30 miles may include a small travel fee to cover gas or lodging, depending on the distance.
6
How much will it cost?
It really depends on the size, detail, and number of colors involved. Once I know more about your wall and vision, I can provide a custom quote that fits your space and budget.
7
Do you require a deposit?
Yes — I require a 50% deposit to cover supplies and reserve your spot on my schedule. The remainder is due once your mural is complete and you’re thrilled with the result.
8
Can you paint illustrations I find on google?
I’m happy to discuss recreating existing artwork, but copyright laws are important to follow. We can chat about your ideas and figure out what’s possible or how to design something inspired by your vision without crossing any legal lines.
9
Is there anything I need to do before you begin painting?
Yes! a few, actually:
For indoor murals, a quick wall wipe-down usually does the trick (and I’m happy to handle that). Outdoor walls often need a power wash, and bare brick might need to be primed before painting. I can recommend someone to handle priming or you’re welcome to use your own painter.
I’ll cover floors and nearby surfaces for protection, but I ask that large furniture or wall décor be moved before I arrive to make setup smoother.
10
Do you work alone or is there someone that helps you paint?
Nope! It’s just me, my brushes, and a lot of paint. I handle each mural personally to make sure every detail looks just right.
11
Is there any maintenance required for a mural?
All murals should be sealed with a clear topcoat for protection. I can handle sealing for you (for an added cost), or you can take care of it after I’m done. Sealing helps prevent fading, scratches, and UV damage. Indoor murals can last indefinitely, while outdoor murals typically hold up 10–15 years if sealed properly. If your mural ever needs a touch-up, I’m happy to come by and refresh it for a small hourly fee.
12
Can I share photos of my mural on social media?
Please do! I love seeing my murals pop up on social media — just tag me when you post so I can see and share the joy too.
